Peru: The Shipibo
The indigenous Shipibo of the Amazon Basin in Peru face myriad challenges in ensuring the survival of their traditional culture amidst encroaching outside influences. These portraits and images were made in conjunction with the documentary film, "Woven Songs of the Amazon", produced by Green Spider Films and released in 2006. The film documents the importance of song in Shipibo life and culture, as well as its role in traditional healing ceremonies.
